Humanitarian Day

Intellect, Love, Mercy

Humanitarian Day is an annual community service movement founded by the ILM Foundation during the sacred month of Ramadan, bringing together volunteers, organizations, and community partners to serve those experiencing poverty and homelessness across Los Angeles. Rooted in the belief that compassion must be turned into action, the initiative provides essential food, care packages, health services, and support to vulnerable communities.

Each year, hundreds of volunteers gather to prepare meals, purchase essential goods, and assemble thousands of care packages filled with food, hygiene items, and basic necessities. These packages are then distributed directly to individuals and families in underserved areas such as Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles and surrounding communities, helping restore dignity and provide immediate relief to those in need.

Hearts of Mercy has proudly participated in Humanitarian Day every year since 2001, playing an active role in both preparation and distribution. We contribute thousands of units of freshly cooked meals, nutritions snacks, and essential goods, while volunteers dedicate the day to packaging, organizing, and personally delivering care packages to homeless and underserved communities throughout Los Angeles and Santa Ana.

Humanitarian Day is more than a single event—it is a movement that unites people of all backgrounds around a shared purpose: feeding the hungry, strengthening community bonds, and transforming compassion into lasting service. By working together year after year, volunteers continue to demonstrate how collective action can uplift communities and inspire a lifelong commitment to helping others.
